Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) is recommending approval of the
application for the Stone Gravel Pit, Permit No. M-97-089, submitted by Daren Stone.
This recommendation is based on a finding by the Division that the operator has
demonstrated compliance with the requirements of Section 34-32.5-115(4) of the
Colorado Land Reclamation Act for the Extraction of Construction Materials.
As a reminder to DMG's previous 12/1/97 notification to the parties to the application,
DMG has scheduled the application for Formal Public Hearing before the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Board (Board), for consideration of application. The Formal Public
Hearing has been scheduled for the January 28-29, 1998 Board meeting at 1313 Sherman
Street, Room 318, Denver, Colorado, commencing at 9:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter as
the matter can be heard.
DMG has re-scheduled the Pre-Hearing Conference, originally scheduled for January 15,
1998, to Januar~12. 1998. Purpose of the Pre-Hearing Conference is to identify the
parties for the Formal Public Hearing and to identify the issues to be considered by the
Board at the Formal Public Hearing. Pre-Hearing Conference is scheduled to occur on
Januar~l2. 1998, at the Montezuma County Annex, 107 North Chestnut, Cortez,
commencing at 1:00 p.m.
