GENERAL NOTES
1. Total Project Area: 37.6 Acres
2. Total Mined Land Area: 52.5 Acres
3. Mining for sand and gravel will be accomplished by a progressive,
open pit mining method. As overburden In front of the active sand and
grovel mining area is removed, it will be placed in the backfill area
behind the sand and gravel highwoll area. The backfill area will also
require inert, import fill material. AT NO TIME SHALL THE EXCAVATION
PIT AREA (See Typical Section Depicted Below) EXCEED 3 ACRES IN
TOTAL AREA. The 3 acre restriction has been placed on the excavation
pit area to limit the amount of site fill required for reclamation work to
150,000 cubic yards.
4. The top two to six inches of topsoil materiol sholl be stripped from
mining area, stockpile areas, processing areas. and site haul road, NOT
TO EXCEED 10 ACRES IN SIZE AT ANY ONE TIME. The topsoil sholl be
stockpiled in buffer areas adjacent to mining operations and used for
site reclamation.
5. Reclamation topsoil placement, mulching, seeding and fertilizing may
be delayed unit on area not exceeding 10 acres in size at any one time,
is available to work. See Reclamation plans for additional details.
6. Mining for the sand and gravel will require the use of pumps to
remove groundwater from the excavation pit area. The dewatering
operations will progress along with the mining operations as they move
through the site. Groundwater will be pumped and discharged into
settlement pond(s) prior to discharge off of the project site and into the
Conning Factory Drain ditch. Two discharge points along the north
boundary of the project, have been approved by the State of Colorado.
The discharge will be monitored prior to release, in accordance with the
permit requirements.
7. A 5' Landscape strip, installed per the City of Grand Junction
Requirements, shall be provided along the entire length of the project
along G Road and the north 600' of 23 Road.
8. The entire project site shall be fenced. A 6' chainlink fence with
screening fabric shall be used in all areas which front 23 Road and G
Road, and all residential uses. A high tension wire fence sholl be used
In all other areas.
9. All precipitation runoff shall be collected and retained in a new
retention pond constructed along the west edge of the project. All
disturbed areas within the project shall be graded such that drainage will
be collected within this retention pond or the excavation pit area.
10. Haul roads depicted on this drawing may be adjusted or relocated
as necessary to promote safe mining and access practices. Haul roads
shall be covered with clean grovel as required to control dust. Haul
roads, stockpiles, and other disturbed areas shall be kept damp, covered,
or chemically treated with magnesium chloride, as required, to control
dust.
11. Access to and from the mining operations shall be from 23 Road
only.
12. Mining for sand and grovzf "hcri not extend post the buffer limits
established on the project drawings, unless otherwise noted. In no case
shall the rock crusher be located within 500 feet on a residential
dwelling.
13. Mining for sand and gravel material is anticipated to require 10
years to mine, and another 2 years to deplete material stockpiles and
complete site reclamation work.
