This letter is to confirm the telephone conversation you had with Lynn
Lewis on April 4, 1986, concerning the Olathe Pit. We have no problem
with Pits No. 1 and No. 2 as described in the CMLRD permit application
(File No. M-86-037). However, the BLM permit, at this time only author-
izes the Highway Department use of Pit No. 1. Prior to using Pit No.
2, this office must be contacted, so an environmental analysis can be
done on this site.
For your information, we have partially completed an environmental review
for the area north of Pit No. 1. In the future, if you wished [o expand
Pit No. 1 to the north and west, we may be able to adjust your free-
use-permit.
