A vicinity map of the mining site is
included in Figure 1. The proposed mining operation will impact the Big Thompson River in the
form of depletions due to evaporation and losses associated with the mining operation. No active
irrigation ditches or surface water rights occur on the property.
The dry mining operation will be established by excavating a dewatering trench around the
perimeter of the mining area. Water will flow by gravity toward a collection basin. The
collected groundwater will be pumped to the Big Thompson River through either a natural
drainage ditch on the northeast comer of the site, or through the Boyd Lake outlet ditch which
discharges to the river on the south side of the permit area.
Consumptive uses from the mining operation will include evaporation and water retained in the
material mined on site. The source of replacement water will be an existing lease with the City of
Page 1
11990 Grant Street, Suite 304• Denver, Colorado 80233 • (303) 452-6611 • Fax (303) 452-2759
