COLORADO
HISTORICAL
SOCIETY
The Colorado History Museum 1300 Broadway Denver, Colorado 80203-2137
July 22, 1994
Barbara Nordyke
Nordyke Construction, Inc.
302 Main
P.0. Box 29
Westcliffe. Colorado 81252
Re: Gravel Mine - Lot ~k40 Centennial Ranch, Sec. 5, T24S, R71W
Dear Ms. Nordyke:
• This office has reviewed your correspondence of July 7, 1994 concerning
the above proposed project.
A search of the Colorado Cultural Resource Inventory has indicated that
there are no known sites located within the boundaries of this project,
However, the location of this proposed pit near the creek makes it highly
probable that prehistoric and historic sites may be present. If there have
been no extensive land altering activities in the project area, we
recommend that a cultural resource survey be undertaken to determine if
eligible cultural resources will be impacted by project activities. This
is done in accordance with the Colorado Register of Historic Places Act
(24-80.1).
If we may be of further assistance please contact Jim Green at 866-4674.
Sincerely,
~'~e~~~~
James E. Hartmann
State Historic Preservation Officer
JEH/WJG
•
