DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: COTTER CORPORATION - SCHWARTZ WALDER MINE, JEFFERSON COUNTY <br />APPLICATION FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT <br />As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for an underground <br />uranium mine near Golden. An alluvial well (Exhibit N) provides domestic and <br />sanitary water for the mine, but no Statement of Beneficial Use has ever been <br />filed for the well. The applicant states on page D-11 that'bvater is+3lso required <br />in the ore sorting plant to wash off the fines attached to each ore p+jrticle...". <br />The water rights used for this wash water were not discussed in the application. <br />We cannot recommend approval of the application until the applicant provides <br />additional information concerning his legal right to put water from his well or <br />his mine to beneficial use. <br />>aniels on <br />JAD:SSH:mvf <br />cc: W.
