The proposed exploration locations aze generally in azeas previously disturbed by historic
exploration activities or agricultwa] operations, and have been located adjacent to existing ranch
roads, where feasible. Cultwal resource cleazances have been completed for both the proposed
drill-sites and the azea of the phased geotechnical investigations. Review of the proposed
locations by the Colorado Division of Wildlife did not identify any potentially impacted resources
requiring avoidance or specific mitigation measures (refer to accompanying documentation).
It is anticipated that little or no road construction will be required to access the sites, since most
are adjacent to existing ranch roads, and the proposed activities will occw during the period of
late-June through October, when favorable ground conditions prevail. Reclamation of
exploration distwbance areas will involve plugging and sealing the coreholes and drillholes,
allowing the mud pits to dry-out and then backfilling the pits, backfilling exploration trenches,
regrading the drill pads and trench azeas, replacing windrowed topsoil, and reseeding the azeas.
Dependent on location and aspect, one of three reclamation seed mixtwes (pastweland, cropland,
or rangeland/wildlife) will be used. Selection of the appropriate seed mixtwe will be based on
the pre-distwbance vegetation community and land-use. The estimated cost for reclamation of
the proposed exploration disturbance is approximately $150,000, for purposes of bonding.
We hope to initiate the proposed exploration activities as soon as possible, following receipt of all
requved approvals, therefore, we would appreciate yow consideration and cooperation in
facilitating timely review and approval of this submittal. Once you have had opportunity to
review this submittal package, please feel free to contact me at 470-870-2712 with any questions
or comments.
Best
for J
dal Supervisor
Coal Company
Attachments
cc: Routt County Clerk and Recorder
R.
