Page Two

Side and end slopes of remaining pit should be a min-
imum of 3:1. All south facing slopes should be :1. This
allows revegetation and also the escape of any d mestic
livestock or wildlife that may get into the pit.
Seeding recommendations for this area are sl~ovm on
CO-ECS-S which is attached.
Due to the low annual precipitation, supple ental irr-
igation may be needed for two to three years to et these
species established. Mulching may be needed esp cially on
the south and west facing slopes. Seed should b drilled
across the slopes and not up and down and should be planted
1/2 to 3/u inch deep.
Seeding should be done prior to July 1 or a ter October
15 each year to utilize best moisture conditions. No graz-
ing should be allowed the first two years to all w the
grasses to become established.
Seeding in this area is risky and the ctianc of success
is slim especially if supplemental irrigation is not pro-
vided. With supplemental irrigation chance of s ccess would
only be about 50 percent. Irrigation is depende t on avail-
able water rights.
