Stevens <br />Senior Reclamation Specialist <br />Mined Land Reclamtion Division <br />1313 Sherman Street, Rm. 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Re: Weld County, Peters Pit No. 2, File No, M-87-186 <br />Dear Mr. Stevens: <br />This office has reviewed your correspondence of October 23, 1991 concerning <br />the above proposed project. <br />A search of the Colorado Inventory of Cultural Resources has indicated that <br />there are no known sites located within the boundaries of this project. <br />However, the location of this mining operation is near water which makes <br />it highly probable for prehistoric and historic sites to be present. If <br />there have been no previous land altering activities on the parcel, we <br />recommend that a cultural resource survey be undertaken to determine if <br />eligible cultural resources will be impacted by mining activities.
