Impacts of Mining on the Ya_mna and Williams Fork River Alluvial Floor
There should be no detrimental effects from the development mining that was completed in the No. 9 mine on the Big
Bottom area. This is based on the fact that there will be no subsidence associated with the development mining that
was completed in the No. 9 mine. Therefore, there will be no damage to the irrigation ditches that serve the Big
Bottom area. No surface facilities, except for the ground water monitoring wells, aze located in the Big Bottom arts.
The disturbance area associated with these ground water monitoring wells is insignificant in comparison to the aerial
extent of the Big Bottom.
Flood irrigation practices will be reestablished on the Williams Fork River alluvial floor upon completion of the
reclamation activities. The surface facilities will be removed, topsoil replaced, and the site seeded with the
pastureland (hayland) seed mixture. As discussed in Section 2.05.4, Reclamation Plan, the sloped areas will be
seeded with the rangeland wildlife seed mixture.
No full extraction mining is planned under either the Yampa or Williams Fork alluvial floors during the first five (5)
years of this permit submittal. However, if subsequent five (5) year plans include full extraction mining under either
the Yampa or Williams Fork alluvial valley floors, information concerning the impacts on the alluvial valley floors
will be included in those submittals. Full extraction mining was conducted in the Wise Hill No. 4 mine under a
portion of the northern end of the Williams Fork River alluvial valley floor. To date, no serious impacts have been
noted due to this mining. Since this mining was conducted prior to CEC's operations, CEC assumes no liability for
the environmental impacts caused by this mine.
CEC does not plan to conduct angering operations in conjunction with its underground mining activities. Therefore,
this section is not applicable.
~ 06 l0 OA PRO 4SINC P ANTS AND SLiPPORT FACILITIES NOT LOCATED WITHIN THE PERMIT
BBEA
CEC does not have any coal processing plants and /or support facilities not located within the permit area.
2.06.11 IN SITU PROCESSING ACTMTIES
CEC plans no in-situ mining or processing activities in conjunction with the planned underground mining operations.
Therefore, this section is not applicable.

Permit Renewal No. 3 2.06-4 7(15!98
