• • III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
~E~E9~lE®
MAY 21 1984
MINED LAND RECI.AMATiON DIVISION
Colo. Dept. of Nawral Resuurcas
May 15, 1984
Mark Loye
Senior Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman St., Room 423
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Loye,
The following is in response to questions raised in your letter of May 9, 1984.
Exhibit D
1. It is not anticipated that mining or reclamation operations will threaten
County Road 66T. A permanent fence separates the road from the mining op-
eration. There is no evidence that activities at the existing pit have
resulted in any road damage. County road crews provide routine maintenance
on Road 66T and will take any necessary precautions to protect the road.
2. The Nash Ditch is a small irrigation ditch approximately 4 to 5 feet wide
and 2 feet deep. Adjacent landowner Gary Boyce owns the majority of water
rights in the ditch. The ditch will be physically separated from the mining
operation by a permanent fence and a 50 - 100 foot buffer zone. Pit walls
will be sloped away from the ditch. The depth of the pit near the ditch will
be less than 5 feet. No adverse impacts on the ditch are anticipated. The
ditch will be monitored, and if seepage is evident as a result of the mining
operation, a synthetic liner will be installed.
Exhibit E
1. These concerns are specifically addressed in Exhibit E, page 1 paragraph 5.
2. Specific strategies for revegetation were developed in close coordination with
the SCS. The revegetation plan represents the most reasonable and cost effec-
tive means of re-establishing vegetative cover given site limitations. The
site will be monitored in cooperation with the SCS following initial seeding
and re-seeding will be conducted if necessary. In response to your concerns,
