A disturbance of approximately 1.7 acres is associated with the
metal construction structure and adjoining parking lot. The building was constructed in 1978 as an
office/shophvarehouse complex for the Middle Creek Underground Mine. A schematic diagram of die
facility is presented in Figure 3, Mine Office Plans.
The area surrounding [he Middle Creek Office has been approved for storage of non-coal wastes; i.e.
salvageable and surplus mining equipment as well as any other material or equipment not in use by the
mining operation. Toxic ,hazardous, radioactive, or petroleum product wastes will not be stored on [his
site.
Runoff from the site is temporarily detained by a compacted earthen berm constructed around the parking
area, thereby maximizing percolation and minimizing overland flow onto adjacent land. It is planned to
maintain the building and parking area after reclamation to augment postmining land use. The approved
postmining land use of pastureland requires that buildings be available for administrative and maintenance
• use resulting from the ranching operation. The Middle Creek office and shop building satisfies [his
requirement.
J
APPROVED JUL 1 S 1997
TR 97-OS 2.05-10 Revised 4/29/97
