In addition to providing the flexibility
' required for this mining operation, the partial slabbing has
resulted in no surface disturbance caused by mining.
Coal is mined at the face using a continuous miner. A water spray
' is used for dust suppression. Shuttle cars transport the coal to
a belt conveyor which moves the coal to the underground track
' haulage system. Trace: haulage is usec'. to transport the coal to
the surface coal landing facilities, and ultimately to rail cars
for final transport.
The anticipated annual tonnage is 200,000 to 250,000 tons. This
' production rate will continue up to June 30, 1982.
reining operations shall be conducted to ensure the extraction of
' coal to the marimum extent possihle, taking into account existing
technology, available equipment, cost of production, quality
' and quantity of coal, past experience in operating this mine, and
the operating contract with ARCC.
(2) Operation description.
Refer to Map 2.05.2(1)-1 and Drawing 2.04.3(3)(c). "tap 2.05.2(1)-1
' shows the extent of the existing operation. Drawing 2.04.3(3)(c)
shows the limits of the affected area and the extent of mining.
' The area shown is the area to be affected over the life of the
operation and for the term of the permit. Pining operations will
' continue until June 30, 1982 or until the coal in the contract runs
out, then the mining operation will shut down. The six portals will
be sealed no later than September, 1982.
' Section 2.05.3 Operation Plan - Permit Area
(1) Production methods and equipment.
The mining method is room and pillar using electric powered
continuous miners, shuttle cars, conveyor belts and track
' haulage. Refer to Section 2.05.2(1) and 2.04.3(3)(a) for
additional narrative. Coal production will be 7.00 to 250 thousand
tons during t!:is permit term, and the term of the contract with
ARCO, which ends on June 30, 1982.
REMISED t9ay 15, 1981 5g
