<br />~` <br />EXHIBIT J - VEGETATION INFORMATION <br />The vegetation surrounding the JD-9 mining operation may <br />be described as a sparse to scattered pinyon-juniper woodland. <br />Towards the Bull Canyon rim to the wrest, the soil is of a <br />gravelly clay loam texture and pinyon-juniper cover decreases. <br />Desert understory species (sagebrush, mountain mahogany, yucca) <br />are found, averaging 15 to 30 inches in height. <br />Moving avray from the rim, the trend is for soils to become <br /> <br />sandier, the desert understory community to thin out, and <br />(See E~;hibit C) <br />the pinyon-juniper community to increase slightly in density. <br />Grasses and smaller plant species associated vrith this <br />vegetation type include: <br />Serviceberry <br />Blue grama <br />Cheatgrass <br />Fendler three avm <br />Indian ricegrass <br />Rabbitbrush <br />Snakeweed <br />Galleta <br />~~lestern wheatgrass <br />No site index curves are available for pinyon-juniper <br />stands. While some stands reach heights of over 35 feet, <br />many do not reach over 20 feet. <br /> <br />
