74
State Reg. Federal Reg.
• There are approximately 1.36 acres of this sloping Shawano, wEt
phase soil on the proposed mine disturbance area. Therefore,
about 2.27 acre-feet of suitable topsoil are expected frcen the
mine site (Table 9-2).
SHAVANO SANDY CLAY LOAt4 - UNIT #5810E/D-2, 10-20$ STAPES.
Approximately 3.36 acres of this moderately steep Shawano, eroded
phase soil occur on the proposed mine disturbance area. The "A"
horizon is 0.33 feet thick. Only 0.34 feet of "B" horizon ~te-
rial can be salvaged. This soil unit should yield 2.25 acre-feet
of high quality surface soil from the mine site (Table 9-2).
ZII. lUPSOIL REPTACEf~Pr
Currently, there are approximately 20.39 acre-feet of topsoil
contained in 14 stockpiles. Tables 9-3 lists individual volumes
for each pile. Soil material from stockpiles 1 through 13 is
considered to be highly suitable for a plant growth median (see
Soil Survey Report and Analyses, Tab 9). Stockpile 14 was es-
tablished after the 1979 field soil survey. A complete soil
analysis will be perfornied on samples to be collected fran this
pile in spring 1980. All stockpiled topsoil shall be replaced
according to the anticipated topsoil handling schedule (Table
9-4) on all post July 1, 1978 disturbance areas.
Approximately 106.88 acre-feet of suitable topsoil is expected
to be stripped fran the proposed 1980-1984 disturbance area
(Table 9-2). The total 1980-1989 disturbance area is expected
to be 83.52 acres which includes 1.02 acres of future road-bed
and pond area that will require no topsoil replacement (Table
9-5). The disturbance area during July 1, 1978 til January 1,
1980 was 24.00 acres which includes 1.38 acres of future road-
bed area that will require no topsoil. The shop and office area
comprises 6.65 acres. Therefore, the total disturbance area
