gravel production is 250,000 tons per year, to extend
over a 17 to 25 year mine life. Sources of air pollution
will include dust (total suspended particulate--TSP)
t
from gravel mining,- material handling and processing, and
gravel transportation, and small amounts of vehicle pol-
lutants from haul trucks and other gravel-mining equipment.
This report analyzes and discusses air quality impacts of
the project. Existing air quality and meteorological con-
ditions at the site are described. Quantitative estimates
are derived for the quantity of pollutants to be generated
and resulting dust concentrations in the ambient air.
• These results are interpreted in terms of expected effects
and discussed in relation to site-specific factors, sur-
rounding development, and applicable air pollution stand-
ards and regulations.
Existing Air Quality
Existing air quality at the site is generally good and
represents typical background levels of pollutants for a
rural area in close proximity to urban developments . Dust
and suspended particulate concentrations in air at the
• site are occasionally high due to wind-raised dust from
nearby roads, agricultural activity, construction activity,
/ or natural dust sources. Other pollutants can sometimes
l• G-2
