Mining activities will increase
dustfall and suspended particulate , but average particu-
late levels will meet federal and state air quality
standards. Mitigations for dust will include spray
bars on the crusher, pavement of the northern haul road,
watering of unpaved traffic areas , dampening of stock-
piles, and phased operations with reclamation following
mining so that only a part .of the site is being mined
• at any one time. Because prevailing winds , especially
high winds, tend to be from the west, there will be no
significant air quality impact on residences nearest
the proposed mine. Increases in vehicular air pollution
due to mining will be insignificant.
Introduction
This report by George E. McVehil discusses the potential
effects on air quality of the Flatiron Sand and Gravel
proposed Deepe Farm gravel mining project. The mine
property is located immediately southeast of Boulder,
between U.S. Highway 36 and South Broadway . Planned
G-1
