INTRODUCTION <br />• Either of two possible Locations is beinc considared <br />for the construction of power plant facilities in northwestern <br />Colorado; e:<pansion of the e:cisting Hayden, Colorado plant, or <br />construction of new facilities south of Craig, Colorado. <br />Mr. Dennis Weder informed me of the impending con- <br />struction plans and the willingness of the contractor to appraise <br />the two plant sites for their archaeological potential. Conse- <br />quently, two and one-half days were spent between 18 and ZO <br />October, 1970, on this project. One-half day was spent at the <br />Hayden facility, one day at the Craig locality, and one day was <br />consumed with travel. Mr. Weder, a member of the Colorado <br />Archaeological Sociyty, assisted me in the archaeologic_'_ survey. <br />~. <br />Y?..~?PA/WILLI~'~!S CORK 2~i1T SS"_'E <br />At the possible power plan*_ site near the confluence <br />of the Yampa and t4i11iams Pork Rivers, the area of the plant <br />site was checked and also some areas which might be disturbed by <br />dam construction in connection with supplying water f•cr the <br />power plant. The areas of possibly strip mine operations were <br />not checked at this time. <br />Three archaeological sites were located (P~;s. i-2). <br />Descriptions of yach will follow.
