37
tier of sections, Secs 1, 2, 3, 4, T5n, R90w, and Sec. 6, TSn, R89w,
were field checked and rejected on the basis of slope and/or vegeta-
tion. The linear outline of the surveyed area in this portion
of the lease reflects the nature of the terrain. Survey was performed
along drainage bottoms but not on the steep slopes adjacent to them.
The areas indicated as "Plot field checked", in Sec s 29, 27, and
26, T6n, R90w, were not surveyed because the landowner refused access.
~ Sec. 12, TSn, R90w was overlooked, and, as it appeared to meet the sur-
vey criteria in map inspection, should have been surveyed. This error
was not detected until after the crew had returned to Fort Collins.

Site Distribution
Only one site, 5P1F319, was encountered in the survey of Tract 2.
.r• This site, the remains of an historic architectural site, is again the
~~
result of Euro-American occupation. The single structure is in very
poor condition.
Tract 9
Environment
• This tract (Fig. 4) is not greatly different from Tract 2, in that
it includes very little terrain that does not incline steeply. The sur-
face has been uplifted on its southern edge and has a general dip to the
north. The area has experienced considerable erosion, however, and ex-
hibits an extensive array of gulches, canyons, and narrow valleys. Most
of these trend in a northerly direction, especially in the northern
. half of the tract.
