The site, 5RT24, is also located in
an ideal circumstance, as it is adjacent to Foidel Creek and on the
break in slope at the head of Eckman Park.
The two historic architectural sites, 5RT12 and SRT35, are not
very different from those in Tracts 3 and 6.
Portions Surveyed
Steep slopes and heavy vegetation account for most of the unsur-
veyed area in these four tracts (Tables lA, 2A, 3A, 4A). The southern
portion of Tract 1 was heavily vegetated and impassible. Eckman Park
includes a considerable amount of cultivated land, but this portion of
the lease was surveyed as the land was lying fallow.
~• The northern portion of Tract 1 and the southern portion of Tract
4 are transected by a partly exposed sandstone cliff that curves to
the north. This was not surveyed due to its steepness and vegetative
cover. North of this, the terrain is much flatter and under cultiva-
tion. Sec. 12 was not surveyed north of the escarpment with the excep-
tion of a small portion covered before the landowner intervened and with-
drew permission. Almost all of Tract 4 was under cultivation and was
not surveyed to avoid damage to crops.
The terrain in Tract 3 was, for the most part, suitable for survey,
with the exception of very steep slopes adjacent to Foidel Creek. The
areas not surveyed, including most of Sec. 23 and the west half of Sec.
25, were eliminated due to cultivation. This also applies to the north-
ern part of Sec. 27 that lies in the tract, and to the northwest cor-
e ner of Sec. 28. The portion of Tract 3 which straddles the section
