Quinn
Stone Forge
P.O. Box 155
Woodland Park, CO 80866
Re: Adequacy Review, Quinn Quarry, File No. M-91-147
Dear Mr. Quinn:
Michael B. Long.
Dnision Drteaor
The Division has reviewed your reclamation application. Prior to our approval
we need to clarify a few issues. Please respond to the following questions
and comments by April 20, 1992.
1. Your topsoiling plan is somewhat confusing, you state that the
topsoil averages 0 to 6 inches with up to six feet in the valley but
you only want to replace two inches. We believe that a minimum of
four inches will be needed to achieve adequate revegetation. Can you
commit to replacing a minimum of four inches of topsoil on the
benches and floor of the pit?
2. On page 6 paragraph 3(a) it is stated that native grasses will
naturally invade the areas where topsoil is reapplied. However, a
seed mix is given on page 7. You should commit to utilizing this
seed mix on all reclaimed areas.
3. If revegetation is done in stages as benches are made, as is stated
on page 6, paragraph 3(c) the proposed bond will be adequate. You
should take care to do the revegetation as you go, ff this is not
done the bond will have to be increased.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
/~
Gregg RJ Squire y
Reclamation Specialist
GRS/ern
cc: Carl Mount, MLRD
- -- - -sT,~TE~F COLORADO
111 iiiiilriiiiii r~i r~o ~9
2550E
