•STAiE LAND - JENSEN PIT •
EXHIBIT E: RECLAMATION PLAN
This proposed gravel pit is a hill deposit that has been used as grazing
land in the past. Two small locations in the northern portion of the
affected area have been praviously mined for gravel, as has the bed of
the dry creek along the north and east boundary of the affected area.
It is possible that we might disturb initially reclaimed areas during
subsequent gravel operations. However, if this should occur, the
disturbed area would be reclaimed again.
When the pit is utilized by a contractor on one of our construction
projects, it is possible that the area where he worked would be
reclaimed within a few months after completion of the project. However,
on the smaller maintenance operations where the material is removed by
our maintenance forces, we will normally do only routine clean-up after
each operation. Then when there is an area of sufficient size to make
reclamation practical, and which will not be disturbed by subsequent
operations, we will do more extensive reclamation.
Our reclamation efforts far the area which we disturb will be directed
to restoring the affected area to grazing land.
The following summary outlines the work phase procedures that will be
used as a guide to achieve the reclamation objectives:
1. The top six inches, approximately, of overburden in the pit, plant,
stockpile, and access road areas will be stripped and stockpiled for
future use in reclamation of the area.
2. Any excess overburden in the areas where we excavate will also be
stripped and stockpiled.
3. All backslopes created by our excavation will be left no steeper than
3:1.
4. A~ completion of our operations, all locations in the affected
area that had overburden removed or vegetation disturbed will be
ripped a minimum depth of six inches.
5. Any stockpiled excess overburden will then be spread uniformly over
the bottom of our excavation and the stockpiled top six inches will
be spread uniformly back over the areas from which it was removed.
6. All areas that were ripped will be seeded, fertilized, and mulched
in accordance with the attached plan which is based on recommendations
obtained from the U.S. Soil Conservation Service.
