Mining in the proposed area of Douglas
County is not compatible with present use. The majority of residents
within the impact area are opposed to mining as demonstrated by
approval of the Franktown Subarea Master Plan. The environmental
impacts are immeasurable and undeterminable. Proceeding with such blatant
use of the land with todays limited knowledge is truly reckless.
Complicating the known problems are county and state roads within
Douglas County which are stressed at present by local traffic. And local
residents are also aware that under present state and county regulations it
is possible for Hallett and Winkler to ultimately avoid reclaimation.
Please consider my opinions during the course of deliberation
regarding this permit. Also, please reflect on the fact that although
you may visualize your position as only regulatory; you have an obligation
to the residents in the impact area and to future generations to insure
a clean and safe environment. Keep in mind that progress may be
preservation.
l
Sinc ely,
ti/ ~
Deborah C. Gamec
~~
