• structures, mining will be conducted beneath the lines. Peabody will ensure
that equipment heights do not exceed height limitations as specified in the
letter from WAPA. For the sake of simplicity, the area around the struc-
tures will be included in the proposed permit ores.
Natural Gas Lines. There are two natural gas lines that run through or near
the property including one 3-inch line and one 6-inch line. The 6-inch line
cuts diagonally across the western section of the permit area. The 3-inch
line runs east and west just north of the permit area. Western Slope Gas
Company holds a SO-foot wide right-of-way on each gas line. PCC has
agreed not to mine nearer than 30 feet to the gas lines. Here again, in order
not to slice up or leave windows in the permit area, the gas line has been
included within the permit boundary.
Telephone Lines. A telephone line runs just north of the permit boundary.
This will not be disturbed by mining operations.
• Buildings. A few buildings associated with an old farmstead still remain on
the site. Most of the structures are in a deteriorated condition due to lack
of maintenance. One structure, a barn, is in relatively good condition.
These structures will not be disturbed by mining operations.
Sediment Ponds. At present, one sediment pond exists at Mesa Gravel Pit.
This is NPDES Discharge Point f/001. As built, plans for this pond can be
found on Exhibit G-2. As part of the gravel pit expansion, the existing pond
will have to be enlarged once the pit area exceeds the design capacity of the
pond. See Exhibit G-3 for pond redesign and Exhibit G for calculations.
Roads. Access to the site is obtained by one haul road that intersects
County Road 518. There are no other haulage roads proposed at this time.
The existing road will be extended as mining progresses to the west.
•
D-2 Revised March I I, 1982
