• HYDROLOGIC ANALYSIS
YAMPA RIVER ALLUVIUM, BIG BOTTOM AREA
INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of the test pumping of well YAW-5 located
in the Big Bottom area of the Yampa River valley near our Eagle Mine No. 9
(Figure 1). This well is located directly aver the panel to be mined
first in the proposed expansion of the Eagle Mine No. 9. Tn our submittal
of April 1982, the results of the slug testing of wells completed in the
Big Bottom area were presented. The local geology and well construction of
the pumping test wells were presented in that submittal.
• TESTING
The pumping test array consists of four wells (Nap III-11), the pumping welt,
YAW-5 and three observation wells - YAW-4, YAW-6 and YAW-7. Well YAW-5
was pumped for 100 minutes on May 5, 1982 at 3 to 4 gpm. Because the
pumping rate was not held constant during the test, the well was retested
the next day.
On May 6, well YAW-5 was pumped for 45 minutes at 3.5 gpm. The test was
terminated when the pumping water level had almost reached the pump intake.
Following termination of pumping, water level recoveries were measured for
35 minutes, at which time the water level in the pumped well had recovered
approximately 100%.
