The Fountain Valley Authority only recently obtained a copy of
the proposal for mining and has not had an adequate opportunity to review the same
for problems. However, it is apparent that there may be problems caused if any
particulates from the mining operation are allowed to be blown southward. These
could cause a sand blasting effect on the water tanks and other facilities of the
Fountain Valley Authority.
Additionally, the Authority is concerned about possible concentration of
drainage due to the mining operations. This area is one where it has experienced
problems due to flash flooding in the summertime in the past. Mining activity may
or may not aggravate this situation.
in order to have time to fully review the possible adverse impacts of the
mining operation, the Authority would respectfully request that it be allowed an
additional thrity days in which to file comments. This additional period would
allow the Fountain Valley Authority sufficient time to prepare spgc`fic comments.
GLJ:In
qp[s COO[ 303
TELCPNOMC 63$'35<5

~~ ~ it F 19R2
~o ~~~R SAND RECLAf~l~rin
7t. o!
