~ III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII •
~N
Exhibit G -Water Information
The Parkdale project is located north of the Arkansas River. The Gravel Bar borrow pits
and the processing area, stockpiles and railroad toadine areas are located south of
Tallahassee Creek. The Granite Quarry and plant area and the Sandstone Quarry are
located north of Tallahassee Creek. The project includes two culverted crossings of
Tallahassee Creek. The location of the Arkansas River, Tallahassee Creek and the
various disturbance areas are shown on the Mine Plan Map.
There is no known site specific data available on water levels in the vicinity of the Gravel
Bar Aggregate Pit. Review of the site's geology suggests that local water table in
aggregate will reflect the Arkansas River stream elevation. All mining and reclamation
work will be completed in-the-dry. Berms and ditches will be used to protect
Tallahassee Creek from uncontrolled runoff from mining and processing operations.
Mining operations will be conducted consistent with the project's Process and
Stormwater Management Plan. The Plan describes the project's overall strategy to
manage process and control stormwater. Approximately 30,000 gallons per day of
process water will be pumped from a well to be located in the process plant area.
Appropriate water rights will be purchased prior to completing the well which will be
completed in accord with State regulation. Discharge from the product wash operations
will be routed to infiltration ponds. The plant and stockpile area will be graded to route
stormwater to the gravel bar pits. Stormwater will be allowed to infiltrate from the
gravel pits.
Planned stormwater temporary stabilization practices include: temporary seeding and
mulching of topsoil stockpiles and other project areas; construction of temporary
diversions, level spreaders, temporary sediment basins and check dams; and, installation
of silt fences and/or straw bale dikes. Permanent stabilization practices to be utilized
include: proper grading; seeding and mulching:, and, possibly construction of permanent
check dams. The Parkdale project will be subject to the provisions of a Sand Br, Gravel
Process and Stormwater Discharge General Permit issued by Colorado Dept. of
Environmental Health, Water Quality Control Division. The two Tallahassee Creek
crossings will be subject to [he regulations of the Army Corps of Engineers.
Bulk fuel storage tanks will be placed on lined pads. Berms will provide for containment
of the capacity of the lazgest installed tank plus freeboard of 12 inches. Fuel storage
areas will be regularly inspected for leaks or spills. Consistent with the project's Spill
Prevention and Control Plan, spills will be cleaned up immediately after discovery.
Spills of toxic or hazardous materials will be properly reported to the appropriate Stale
and local government agencies.
