• * ! ,~
October 23, 1981
RBC Board of County Comniaslonere
Rio Blanco County Courthouse
Meeker. CO 81641
Centlemens
This letter io to protest the application of the Stout/Amick gravel pit
application for special use as it relates to property owned in the SEIt
of Sec 31, T1N~ R9347 of the 6th P.l1. We would like rn protest rho
nppliention because if Branted, our property will decrease in value by
its operation. Prenently, there 1s no access into the proposed nine
area. Anew road will have to be built and as we understand the
proposal, the road will Dc built nn property now owned by Phyllis Amick.
however, it is uncertain where the road will be constructed.
41e have just built a r.cw home in the SP.kSF~: of Sec. 31, T1}7, R93w, of
the 6th P.lt. which will be located within ],000 feet of the proposed
gravel operation. Because we don't know the extent of the proposed operntlen, it is
hard for us to speculate on what rill happen as s result of vibration
from the operation of the heavy equipment on cur home property, however.
that ie a possible problem that will have to be dealt with.
We are further concerned about the increased trafffe that will be put
upon Baseline Road (County Road 4) as a result of this npecntion. Ae
the Commissioners know, there are already three operating trove}. pits on
County Road 4 itself and st the intersection of County Rnad 4 and County
Road 8, Berry Brothers has leased a pit from Bachmann xhich increases
traffic then their trucks come around the Mesa Road to avoid going
through torn for deliveries to the rest and south of Meeker. It does
not seem that et the present time there ie a need for another operating
