Mr. Berhan Keffelew
Mined Land Reclamation Division
January 2 , 1992
Page 3
3. We are aware of the need for approved water plans prior to
exposing or using groundwater for this operation. We are in
the process of obtaining approved water plans for this site.
Included with this letter is correspondence between Gary
Tuttle, of this firm, and the State Engineer's Office
regarding the water permit issue.
4 . Idaho Creek is an irrigation ditch with a headgate at Boulder
Creek. As an irrigation conveyance structure, the flows in
the creek are generally slow and at some times almost non-
existent. At the first point of diversion from the old creek
channel to the new one, the center of the creek channel will
drop approximately two feet to compensate for the loss of
slope length of the original creek channel. From the first
point of diversion to the last point, the percent slope of the
length of the new channel will be almost exactly the same as
that of the old channel. This drop in elevation will help
slow down the water flow in the new channel and will insure
the sediment carrying capacity of the creek remains the same.
I hope these statements help clear up any confusion you may have.
Please let us know if you need any additional information.
Sincerely
TUTTLE APPLEGATE, INC.
Pam Acre
Landscape Architect
PA/br
Encs.
cc: File #91-156
Bill Kobobel
