• Exhibit Page 24
EXHIBIT G -WATER INFORMATION
SUMMARY: This operation is expected to directly but not significantly affect surface and ground water systems in a
positive manner, by allowing for better use of existing surface water rights and stabilizing flow downstream. The
mining and reclamation as planned has no reasonable potential to adversely impact on surface or groundwater
quality or quantity.
1. Sources of Ground Water on site or potentially affected by operations on site: None. There are no wells on
the site. The following recorded wells are in formations (alluvial aquifer) to be disturbed by mining operations on this
site.z Mining at this site will be limited to depths of approximately 20 feet below existing ground level, or
approximately 7195 or higher. This places most mining (depending on season) below the water table.a However,
based on locations (greater than 600 feet from the perimeter of the proposed free water surface) and the relationship
to the river, no impact on any of these wells is anticipated.
Table G-1. Sources of Surface Water on site or potentially affected by operations on site:
The only source of surface water on the site are feeder ditches of the Home Ditch. Nearby sources:
• Dolores River, flowing south at this point, approximately 200 feet east of the pit. The Dolores River will not
receive surface drainage directly from the affected area, once initial stripping has been done. All discharges will
require detention in a settling basin to remove sediment prior to discharge, where inspection can be done.
• Home Ditch, which water source is a diversion from the Dolores River, approximately 4200 feet to the north of
the permit area, and runs the full length of the permit area, with feeder ditches.
• Haycamp Reservoir to the east (approximately 700 feet above pit), discharging to the Dolores River below this
point. Source of water is runoff from rain and possibly springs in the Dakota Sandstone.
• Taylor Reservoir to the west (approximately 800 feet above pit), discharging to the Dolores River below this
point. Source of water is runoff from rain and possibly springs in the Dakota Sandstone.
surrace
Home Ditch Truelsen 1880 Dolores River 2.0 Irrigation use, 54.7 acres, Priority No CA#473
District 10, Stream D-3
Home Ditch Truelsen 1880 Dolores River 0.25 Stock water/domestic, limited t NOV-tMAY CA#967
Agfr: aquifer (creek or basin).
