There are no
(- records of this butterfly being found in or neaz the North Fork Valley. This species is not
expected to occur in the Block Cleazance project azea due to habitat constrictions. Long-
term and cumulative effects on Uncompahgre fritillary butterfly aze not expected based
r on the knowledge that:
L~
• Potential suitable habitat for the Uncompahgre fritillary butterfly does not exist
within the project azea.
• The project will not affect any known azeas that could possibly support
Uncompahgre fritillary butterfly.
• No new permanent roads will be constmcted as part of project activities. The
temporary roads to be constructed will be obliterated after use. The access roads
do not run through habitat capable of supporting Uncompahgre fritillary butterfly.
• Cumulative adverse effects on the Uncompahgre fritillary butterfly by proposed
actions will not occur.
• The limited scope and scale of the proposed action means that Uncompahgre
fritillary butterfly habitat is not at risk, and population viability is not at risk.
Based on current information, the project will have No Effect on the Uncompahgre
fritillary butterfly.
Clay-loving wild buckwheat: The clay-loving wild buckwheat grows in alkaline clay
soils, locally referred to as adobes, on sparsely vegetated badlands of Mancos shale
(USFS 1984). The only known population of this plant is restricted to an adobe hills area
located between Montrose and Delta (Ellen Mayo, per. comm.). There are no records of
this plant being found in the North Fork Valley. This species is not expected to occur in
the Blcek Clearance project azea due to habitat constrictions. Long-tens and cumulative
~- effects on clay-loving wild buckwheat are not expected based on the knowledge that:
• Potential suitable habitat for clay-loving wild buckwheat does not exist within the
project area.
L • The project will not affect any known azeas that could possibly support clay-
loving wild buckwheat.
, • No new permanent roads will be constructed as part of project activities. The
~ temporary mad to be constructed will be obliterated after use. The access road
does not run through habitat capable of supporting clay-loving wild buckwheat.

C • Cumulative adverse effects on clay-loving wild buckwheat by proposed actions
' will not occur.
• The limited scope and scale of the proposed action means that clay-loving wild
j buckwheat habitat is not at risk, and population viability is not at risk.
19
