To think that well over a hundred landowners will have to listen to the
noise of a mining operation for hours upon hours is not acceptable.
It is my understanding there will be no dust mitigation except for the rock crusher itself, which
means we will have to put up with a considerable amount of particulate material which can't be
good for anyone's health.
The roads in this area aze certainly not designed for the extra buck traffic of 30 trucks per day.
The safety issues alone of this extra traffic in an azea used by bikers, hikers and horseback riders
is not good planning. Further, the noise generated by these tmcks using Jake brakes on some of
the steep descents will only add to the disruption of our peaceful neighborhood.
I suppose on a more personal note, the devaluation of my property, which will certainly take
place is really disturbing. I am told that the poor quality of this product won't allow its use on
commercial projects such as building roads. This means Benson Brothers wants to teaz up 30
plus acres of undisturbed woodlands over afifteen-yeaz period just so they can sell red rock for
residential driveways. Surly the land in our county is more valuable to us and the wildlife we
treasure then the value of the profit realized by one company. It's not like they aze mining a
product that we need to strengthen the economy of Delta County.
There has been considerable growth in this area since the last lazge scale mining operation was
atlowed some twenty years ago. We aze no longer a rural azea but a sizable community that
should not be subjected to the problems listed above.
Please reject the Benson proposal.
