Demonstration Area k3
• Demonstration Area J73 consists of some 8.5 acres of reclamation located east of County
Road tJ179, which was seeded in 1979.
The area-weighted average of the ECCS assessment values yields an average condition
value of 16, which places Demonstration Area /13 in the stable erosion condition class.
The USLE calculation, utilizing a topographic factor of 3.5 (200 foot average slope length,
15% average slope gradient) and a cropping factor of 0.07 138°k canopy cover, 49%
ground cover/litter) yields a calculated soil loss of 2.35 Tons/Acre/Year. In comparison,
the surrounding areas give a calculated soil loss of 2.69 tons/acre/year if the cropping
factor of 0.08 is used (Native Pasture Reference Area, as this community type is
immediately adjacent to all three demonstration areas) and all other factors held equal.
If the actual LS factor derived from the adjacent undisturbed area LS reference points
(shown on Map 4A adjacent to Demonstration Area 3) is utilized, the average slope
gradient of 15% and average slope length of 250 feet yields an LS value of 4.0. this in
• turn yields an annual projected soil loss of 3.07 Tons/Acre/Year from the immediately
adjacent undisturbed area. Please note that conservative values of slope length and
gradient were utilized for the undisturbed area in deriving the LS factor value. Therefore,
CYCC feels that Demonstration Area Jf3 meets the criteria of Rule 4.05.2(2)
u
TR 90-06 Exhibit 3 - 50 Revised 02/26/91
