7.2 Grating of Reclaimed Lands
• During the fall of 1992, Trapper grazed (cattle) an area approximately 376 acres in size tha[ was fenced in 1991.
The grazing area is loca[ed in our Enfield pit mining area and includes approximately 82 acres of undisturbed
rangeland and 294 acres of previously reclaimed mined land. Approximately 160 head of cattle were releazed in
the pazmre on October l5th and were allowed to graze for l7 days. The socking rate waz sufficient to promote
util'va[ion of the vegetation by livestock and decrease the standing dead aboveground vegetation biomass while
ensuring proper use of the vegetazion resource. Two 1-acre enclosures were established within the reclaimed
Enfield pit area in 1991. The vegetation within these enclosures will be monitored amually in conjunction with
our postrnine (pre-grazing) vegetazion sampling program. Comparisons will be made between grazed and
tmgrazed plots so az to evaluate the potential impacts (positive and negative) of livestock grazing.
7.3 1993 Revegetation Seed Mixes
Section 3.6.3.5 of Trapper's Mining and Reclamation permit requires thaz the Division be notified of the sad
mites proposed to be used in 1993 (Tables l-L through l-7).
Additionally, permit tables 3.6-7 and 3.6-8 ate revised. Tn an attempt to increase seed mix diversity of adapted
plant species and in response to 1993 seed availability, Globemallow (Sobazralcea spp~ is added to the lis[ of
approved species for Range Site B (Table 3.6-7); Slender wheatgrass (A¢totmon trachvcaulum), Streambank
Wheazgrass (Aytoovron ri arium , Racky Mt. Penstemoo (Penstemon strictus and Globemallow are added to
the list of approved spaies for Range Site C (Table 3.6-8).
•
7.4 Mapper Mlne Facilities
During 1992, few changes wen made to the facilities at Trapper Mine. In tesponx to subtitle D Regtilarion
concerning hazardous waste, constntctjon began on a waz[e accumulation site in the western portion of the mine
si[e, near B pit. Work will be complete in early 1993. The facility, location, design, e[c will be shown on the
revised Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeazure plan submitted to the Department of Health for approval
and to the Division az a minor revision. The site is constructed on a large concrete pad [hat waz previously used
fot a dragline mb rebuild that was performed in 1991.
Also in 1992, final constrocrion was completed on Minor Revision MR-114. This revision was concerned with
relocating the Derringer pit ANFO silo to North Enfield pit.
LWH/FVLjb 3193
[COMLRt92RFP171
•
