• 2.05.4(2)(e) <br />(v) <br />• <br />• <br />Irrigation and Weed Control <br />Use of the planting and mulching methods specified above will result in <br />satisfactory plant establishment, barring abnormally dry conditions. There are <br />no plans to irrigate the reclaimed areas. <br />Noxious Weed Control Plan <br />This weed control plan is concerned with the control of all varieties of noxious <br />weeds on the mine site. It was developed in coordination with Webb Callicutt, <br />Coordinator, Delta County Noxious Weed Program (872-2110). Noxious <br />weeds of concern in the general location of the Bowie No. 2 Mine permit area <br />are; 1) Russian knapweed, Musk, Canadian and Scotch thistle, Houndstounge, <br />Oxeye Daisy, Burdock and Yellow toadflax. <br />Yellow toadflax can be spayed anytime it is discovered. Spay with Banvel, 1.5 <br />oz/gal. <br />All of the other noxious weeds will be sprayed with Curtail, 2.0 oz/gallon mixed <br />with anon-ionic surfactant at 1 quart per 100 gallons of spray. It will not be ap- <br />plied when spray particles may be carried by air currents to areas where <br />desirable plants are growing. Spraying should be performed when <br />temperatures are under 80° F. Spraying will be done by use of a backpack <br />spray system or an ATV mounted spray tank. Redeem mixed at 1.5 oz/gallon <br />is also an acceptable herbicide. <br />Oxeye Daisy can be spayed in the spring in the early flower stage. <br />Houndstounge should be spayed in the spring in the early flower stage. <br />Musk, Canadian and Scotch thistle should be spayed in the spring during late <br />bud to early flower. <br />Russian knapweed should be sprayed in the spring and fall. Fall treatment is <br />also appropriate for thistle rosetts and Canadian thistle. <br />Burdock can be sprayed anytime. Mechanical removal is effective. <br />The Operator commits to performing aggressive weed control during the <br />operations and reclamation phases of the operation. <br />Persons who perform weed control on BLM or USFS managed lands will be <br />licensed. <br />PR-O6 2.05 • 54 - 10/01 <br />APf~oL6D <br />i /15/02, <br />
