• Mr. Archer
10 July 90
Page 3
E. The outlet pipe is 1.5 feet in diameter and 43.5
feet in length.
The embankment areas around the pond are vegetated and show no evidence
of erosion related to pond overflow, Outflow from the drainage pipe
falls on one to two foot boulder rip-rap. Input pipes are free and
clear of debris and functioning properly.
• The Yampa Sedimentation Pond Design involves a drainage area of 1.29
acres with maximum 24 hour storm precipitation of 1.6 inches for 10
years, 2.0 inches for 25 years and 2,6 inches for 100 years. The design
Peak Flow for the 100 year maximum 24 hour precipitation event is 3.2
cfs, and the 5.5 cfs capability of the functioning 1.5 foot diameter
dewatering device is more than adequate. The design Total Flow for the
10 year maximum 24 hour precipitation event is 0.04 acft and an
additional 0.01 acft was designated for sediment storage. The
functioning total pond volume of 0,537 acft is 974 percent larger than
design requirements.
The Yampa Sedimentation Pond storage area and dewatering device are more
than adequate to control runoff and sedimentation from the 1.29 acres
encompassing the conveyor, crusher and access road areas.
Respectfully submitted,
Ey~ge e M. Shearer, P.E.
Ido9 ulting Geologist
l/E/MS:mjs
Enc.
' , \,
