Benson Brothers Red Shale Quarry Vibration Characterization Study Plan
also be present to ensure all measurements and monitoring locations aze appropriate for the
purposes of this study.
All vibration measurements will be digitally recorded and event files will be downloaded
from instruments, backed up and forwazded to Gordon Revey for analysis. Field monitoring
logs accurately documenting the time, distance, and type of equipment measured for all
event records will be kept by Ms. Nation during the time of the measurements. To
acknowledge the accuracy of the measurement logs, they will be signed by Ms. Nation and
representatives of CDMG.
Based on the results of the monitoring work at the Austin Quarry and other similaz
monitoring of motions made by mechanical equipment, it is extremely likely that all needed
data will be collected in two days time because it will become cleaz that data from
subsequent measurements is repetitive. The decision to terminate data collection should be
made when observers representing CDMG acknowledge that measurements at varying
distances aze becoming repetitive and aze not exceeding prior collected peak values.
Measurement Locations: Wherever possible, measurements will be made on hazd exposed
sandstone outcrops located at or neaz the bluff or ridge. The condition of ground and GPS
location coordinates of all monitoring points will be noted in field notes and provided in the
study report. In order to establish a range of monitoring distances needed to prepaze
attenuation curves, instruments may be moved to points located 15 to 350 feet away from
operating equipment.
Data Evaluation and Renortin>?: REVEY Associates, Inc. (RAI) will analyze all data and
develop site attenuation curves for Bound motions generated by all equipment sources.
Standazd least squares regression and statistical methods will be used for this work. All data
and regression analysis and statistical evaluation tools will be provided with no chazge to
Engineers representing CDMG to facilitate an independent data analysis to confirm the
accuracy of reported results. A report of findings containing all measurement data and site
curves will be prepazed and delivered within two weeks after data collection work is
completed. _ _.. .. __
Respectfully submitted,
~- ~;-
Gordon Revey
REVEY Associates, Inc.
