• • 1
{
Thank you for allowing me to address deficiencies in Southwestern's permit applications that
support my view that the risks of damage to the environment and recreational benefits now
and in the future require downsizing the project and alternatives not considered by the
applicant. This project, in its present form, lacks envirorunental balance, social responsibility,
and the foresight expected from industrial leaders of the 90's. What is Southwestern offering
to give back to the State of Colorado, Boulder County, and the environment in exchange for
their profits that can only be provided by this site? When the dust settles from the quarry the
greatest threat to Rabbit Mountain Open Space and future enjoyment by the pubic will rise. I
t}iink Southwestern can modify the project to an acceptable size with good profitability while
safeguarding wetlands, the view-shed and future public benefits from Rabbit Mountain Open
Space.
Respectfully submitted,
~~~~
Thomas M.
