The Peacock Coal Mine is a very small
underground coal mine located on County Road 120; underground mining
activities have been conducted for over 70 years at the Peacock Coal
Mine. The present plans call for continuation of underground mining
utilizing the existing surface facilities.
I have completed a wildlife form and have attached both the form and a
general location map for you r.information. I would greatly appreciate
your input and concerns which would include the following:
• Wildlife species list (wildlife that occurs or is likely to
occur within the permit and adjacent area;
• Seasonal use of the area;
• Presence of any threatened or endangered species;
• Potential positive or negative impacts on wildlife created
by the underground mining operations;
• Suggestions on reclamation techniques to enchance the
wildlife habitat following completion of mining; i.e.,
favorable seed mixture; post-mining landscape; etc.;
• Listing of any published data applicable to the area.
