1
' EXHIBIT D
' Geology
Beaver Creek Clay Mine is located in the contact zone between
' underlying Pikes Peak granite of Precambrian age and overlying, inter-
bedded sandstone, arkosic conglomerate, and claystone of the Fountain
' formation of Pennsylvanian age. The claystone within the Fountain
' formation is the commodity of interest, forming about 37% by volume
of the deposit, sandstone and conglomerate comprising the remaining
' 63%. The Fountain strata strike about N26°E here, and dip at about
29o easterly as a result of uplift along the east flank of the
' f
R
f
d
th
id
illi
t
i
L
65
e
ron
range
ur
ng
e
aram
e orogeny
m
on years ago.
er
to the mining plan map for the distribution of the Fountain formation
and the Pikes Peak Granite.
1

1
1
1
1

1
1
