EXHIBIT B
' Mining Plan
The current operator of this clay mine began his operation in
' 1956. The area mined since 1976 is indicated on the mining plan map.
Production quantities for the years 1973-1976 were used to deter-
, mine area projection required for the mining plan. They are as follows;
1973 - 11,334 Tons
t 1974 - 13,220 Tons
1975 - 8,198 Tons
' 1976 - 19,293 Tons
The operator has indicated a projected reco very rate of ap proximately
' 16,000 tons per year. The average overburden is 63% comprised primarily
of 1 foot of to soil u nderlain by 40-50 feet of clay interbeded with sand-
' stone lenses. "Maximum pit depths are in the 55 foot range and typically
are less than 40 feet. Using a 40 foot average depth and a 53% overburden
value, it is projected that one to one and one-h alf surface acres per year
will be disturbed.
Less than one-hal f acre of additional land is occupied by haul reads
' and stock outs.
The mining plan will consist of topsoil removal by dozers and the
stockpiling of the topsoil. Some drilling and blasting of the sandstone nn Ir~ '
' overburden may be required prior to its removal. It is anticipated that I~
the stock out area for topsoil can be established in previously mined areas
' The pit will be excavated to an approximate maximum depth of 55 feet by front
' end loader which places the material in dump trucks for delivery to a
processing site in Pueblo operated by Summit Brick Co. No +aater usage is
' anticipated at the mine site and no surface or ground water is retained
except for shoe°t periods after heavy rains.
th
i
A
i d i
d
s
e m
n
ng progresses, an
the topsoil can be red
stribute
, it
will be redistributed according to the reclamation plan~s'ted later.
Mining operations at this pit are intermittent occurring not more
