Since the topography of the Roadside permit area forms a trough <br />running northeast to southwest along with major axis of DeBeque <br />Canyon, the Grand Junction wind rose (Figure S-2) which reflects <br />the average speed and direction of the prevailing winds in the general <br />area over a 33-year period until 1979, is oriented to reflect the direction <br />of the prevailing wind from the northeast down the canyon. <br />(c) Temperatures at Grand Junction have ranged from 105° to -23°; <br />however, readings of 100° or higher are infrequent, and about one-third <br />of the winters have no readings below zero. Summer days with <br />maximum temperatures in the middle and low nineties and minimum in <br />the low sixties are common.
