• SECTION 2.05 OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLAN
2.05.1 Objectives
Oakridge's objective for Section 2.05 is to submit a comprehensive, reliable plan of
operations and a reclamation plan consistent with available environmental resources
information and in compliance with the provisions of this Section. Information
responsive to the Operations and Reclamation Plan requirement have been set forth in
the following pages.
2.05.2 Operation Plan -Estimated Area for the Life of the Operations
Oakridge Energy's Carbon Junction Mine is a surface coal mine. Map 5-2 depicts the
mine plan for the proposed permit and the life of the mine. The operation has been and
will continue to employ a "truck/shovel" method of mining. A single pit will be
opened, with box cut spoil being placed to the southwest of the pit. The box cut spoil
will not be required to be returned to the pit to achieve approximate original contour,
and has been graded and reclaimed in-place. This spoil will be referred to as the
permanently reclaimed spoil area. Stability of this area was investigated and confirmed
• during the initial permitting of the mine and construction of the box cut spoil area.
This area has an engineered underdrain and was constructed in lifts to ensure long-term
stability.
Once fully developed to a "steady state pit", the pit will "move" along the outcrop of
the coal seams and extract coal to a planned highwall limit or an otherwise planned
maximum ratio limit.
The life of the mine activity is estimated to be the same as that described for the initial
five year permit term. No additional coal mining activities are anticipated beyond that
described in this permit.
2.05.2(1) Production Methods and Equipment
Production will utilize trucks and shoveUloaders, augmented by scrapers and dozers as
necessary. The major items of equipment to be used will be front-end loaders, dozers,
backhces, and trucks. Scrapers will be used for topsoil and overburden removal during
various stages of the operation. The anticipated equipment list is as follows:
~J
Technical Revision OS (v 1.3) 5-1 Revised 9/1997
