Corey Hoffmann
November 10, 2005
Page 3
2) The magnitude and length of impact that can occur before the applicant decides to pursue
a well permit is not defined.
3) Injury resulting from continued ground water impact during the period between the time
the operator decides to pursue a well permit and the time one is granted is not prevented.
Ground Water in Storage
We estimate that the quantity of water stored in the fractured aquifer within the area to be mined (10-year
plan) is approximately 35 acre-feet. This estimate assumes the following:
Mine Area = 27.71 acres (from application)
Mine Volume = 7,260,000 cubic yards (applicant revised Exhibit C-2C)
Aquifer Specific Yield = .02 assumed
It also assumes that the water table is approximately located as shown on our Cross Section A-A (from
Exhibit 14).
LEONARD RICE ENGINEERS.
