Over 1/3 of this 545 square miles is
comprised of National Forests and mountain parks.
Of the County's 235,000 population, as of April,
1970, approximately 14,500 people or 6% live
in this mountainous area. With accessibility be-
ing a prime factor in affecting population distrib-
ution, most of this population is in close proxim-
ity to the Deriver area.
There are approximately 8,185 persons located
in 12 communities. These communities vary in
size from 65 people in Bergen Park to over
2,400 people in the Evergreen community.
The land use map portrays the man -made de-
velopment and was compiled by field studies
and aerial photo interpretation.
r
a EVERGREEN ° `" - " \ ".'
