• and procedures are described in detail in 9.3.5.2. The type of mulching
method used on these soils will determine the operations and steps to be
taken to accomplish revegetation.
Cover crop mulching will require the following steps in the revegetation
process on non-Rotocleared soils. After the topdressinq materials are
redistributed, the cover crop mulch will be planted and managed as
described in 4.3.5.2. After the cover crop has been turned into the
topdressing either contour furrowing or land imprinting methods for surface
roughening will be employed, utilizing either the broadcasting or
broadcasting and drilling planting methods as outlined under STOCKPILED
ROTOCLEARED TOPSOIL above, as appropriate.
Mulching with straw, hay or equivalent materials will require the
following steps during revegetation operations. Either the contour
furrowing or land imprinting methods for surface roughening will be
employed, utilizing either the broadcasting or broadcasting and drilling
planting methods as outlined under STOCKPILED ROTOCLEARED TOPSOIL above, as
appropriate. After the permanent rangeland seed mixture has been planted,
mulch will be applied as described in 9.3.5.2. The land imprinting process
will occur after the mulch has been applied and will serve to crimp it into
the soil.
• When necessary, the addition of soil amendments to these areas will
be accomplished either before, during or after planting operations,
depending upon the recommended method and timing of application for the
particular nutrients to be added. Soil testing and amendment application
are discussed in detail in 9.3.5.1.
Substitute Soil Reconstruction Materials
Revegetation methods used and operations conducted on substitute soil
reconstruction materials will be identical to that described for non-
Rotocleared soils. See Non-Rotocleared Topsoil above for details
concerning revegetation procedures and methods. When necessary, the
addition of soil amendments to these areas will be accomplished either
before, during or after planting operations, depending upon the recommended
method and timing of application for the particular nutrients to be added.
Soil testing and amendment application are discussed in detail in 9.3.5.1.
Transplanting
• Transplanting is normally considered only in association with woody
species, although plants of any habit may be transplanted.
