• on which the plan has been based; 3) Contain a description of the seed
mixture to be interseeded; 9) Specify the method and rate of planting; and
5) Set forth a schedule for the completion of the interseeding operations.
Transplanting
Any of the species contained in Table 9.9-1 may be used as
transplants. Generally however, transplanting will be limited to woody
species required to achieve specific habitat enhancement goals that can not
be achieved through other more practicable plant establishment methods.
Operational specifics regarding transplanting are described in greater
detail under 9.9.3. Specific transplanting plans will be developed and
submitted to the CMLRD for written approval prior to their implementation,
should they become necessary.
6.d.3.2 Operations
Revegetation operations may be divided into two basic programs,
permanent and temporary. The goals of each program are described above in
9.9.2 under their respective seed mixture categories. The OPERATIONS
• subsection outlines the types and applicability of the various permanent
and temporary revegetation operations to be conducted on lands to be
reclaimed or temporarily stabilized.
PERMANENT REVEGETATION OPERATIONS
Seeding will normally be conducted during the fall months (i.e.,
August 15th through November 30th), although operations may be conducted
during the spring months (April 15th through July 15th) should unusual
conditions warrant such a planting. Permanent revegetation operations on
reclaimed areas that have received livehandled Rotocleared soils,
stockpiled Rotocleared soils, non-Rotocleared soils and substitute soil
reconstruction materials are described separately below. Each type of
topdressing has its own unique requirements that need to be addressed with
specific operations in order to maximize revegetation success.
Livehandled Rotocleared Topsoil
Rotocleared topsoils will be livehandled whenever possible.
• Replacement of these soils will be accomplished with a minimum amount of
handling and compaction. Whenever possible, they will be placed
Renewal-3 9.9-13 June 13, 1997
