CDPHE. The plan must also include proposed monitoring locations, frequencies, and
parameters; proposed equipment and protocol to be used when monitoring; proposed
reporting frequency and report content. In addition to various monitoring points, the plan
must also include proposed points of compliance and compliance standards that are set to
verify that the operation is.not adversely affecting off-site groundwater quality.
3. Please demonstrate that backfilling and the fines and 'naturals' in the trenches and
compacting to 90 percent of maximum dry density will be adequate to keep the
contamination plumes in place, but will not cause significant mounding upgradient of the
trenches, possibly forcing the contamination plumes to migrate north, east or west. Once
the appropriate trench backfill material and compaction density are verified, please
demonstrate that the specified compaction can be achieved with a bulldozer, as is proposed
in Exhibit L.
4. Please specify proposed, dewatering practices (if any), monitoring plans and/or mitigation
practices that will be adhered to during times when excavation has temporarily ceased while
stockpiles are being used up.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, telephone no. 970-243-6368.
Sincerely,
.i~~~~
Steve S.
