• if the operation helps co reveal more of nature's sec-
tacular grandeur.
The total adverse aesthetic impact would not be sicnifi-
can[ regionally. Local significance would be moderate
because projected adverse impacts would add to and prolong
the aesthetic obtrusiveness .of existing mining operations.
9. Air Quality
It is not anticipated that there will be a significant
change in the ambient air quality conditions in tFe area
due to [hc leasing of the three coal lease applicat'_ons.
No new equipment will be used on the new leases, as existing
machinery will be shifted to mine ,the adjacent coa_ reserves
• on the three subject tracts. It should also be re=_ized
that Energy Fuels, if they are awzrded the ieases, r•ould
have to comply with the State of Colorado ambient air
quality standards.
10. Noise
No increases in noise levels would be expected fro.^
development of the subject tracts, as existing equipment
will be used. The source points of noise would be moved
as existing equipment is positioned on the subject parcels.
Inhabitants of dwellings in proximity co the lease appli-
cations would be subject to increased noise ]evels. The
magnitude of these increased levels would depend or. the
abilicy of natural barriers (e.g., ridges) to act as
• ,
sound buffer or barriers.
133
