Terrestrial Fl,~rn <br />Four primary vegetative types arc found within the lease <br />boundary of lease applicntious C-22644 and C-26913: <br />grassland, sagebrush, mountain shrub, and aspen; [L•erc <br />is one subtype - mountain shrub-rock outcrop. <br />Grassland, type 1 <br />A fe~a isolated stands o` grassland type are found in the <br />area; they are mostly small parks among the mounta'_z <br />shrub and aspen types. <br />The vegetation consists primarily of needlegrass (~~ipa <br />spp.), bluegrass (Poa sip.), and bromes (Grorn~s sp?.). <br />Many very small areas o[ grassland type occur along the <br />creek bottoms, but have not been mapped separatel;: from <br />the surrounding ve~ecacion. <br />Sagebrush, type 4 <br />Sagebrush community occurs on all sites below the ele- <br />vational range of mountair. shrub community; the trans- <br />ition zone between the two communities is often very <br />wide, making them difficult co separate. The sagebrush <br />is of ten •short in the bottom lands, and these areas <br />support.a good understory of grasses and fortis. <br />The dominant grasses associated with the sagebrush (Ar- <br />temesia spp.) are: wheatgrasses (Acronvron spp.), bluc- <br />• <br />i <br />1 <br />grasses, .tune grass (Kolcria cristata), and bottle brush <br />squirrel[ail (Sitanion hvstrix); dominant fortis ir.cl~~de <br />113 <br />
